Voting: this is how you do it
On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, we get to vote in the elections to the House of Representatives. Members of Parliament decide on plans and rules for the Netherlands. And they decide what the Dutch government spends money on.
When you vote, you help determine which people get into the House of Representatives.
How does voting work?
Completed: You will receive a voting card at home
The municipality will send you a voting card and a list of candidates. You will receive these in your mailbox no later than October 15, 2025.
Have you lost, not received or damaged your voting pass? Then you can apply for a replacement voting pass until noon on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at the latest.
Completed: choose a political party
You can see on the candidate list which parties are participating in the election. Not sure yet which party you want to vote for? Then use one of the voting aids.
Completed: go to the polling station
On Wednesday, Oct. 29, go to the polling station with your voting card. Also bring your passport, driver's license or identity card. You can vote with this if it is valid. You can also vote with it if it has been expired for a maximum of 5 years.
All polling places in Geldrop-Mierlo can be found on the Where is my polling place website?
Completed: hand in your voting card
Give your voting card to the people at the polling station. Also show your passport, driver's license or identity card. The people at the polling station will check your voting card and who you are.
Rounded: You get a ballot paper
The ballot paper lists the political parties participating in the election. The people you can vote for are listed on the ballot paper, by their political party.
Rounded: Color 1 box red
Enter a voting booth with the ballot paper. You do that alone. No one is allowed to watch as you vote. In the voting booth there is a red pencil. Find the name of the person you want to vote for on the ballot paper. Color the box red in front of this name.
Finished: put your ballot in the ballot box
Fold the ballot back closed and put it in the ballot box.
Completed: you voted!
After 9 p.m., all votes will be counted. The results are then announced. You will find the results on the Internet, for example on the website of NOS. Or in the news, on the radio, TV or in the newspaper.
Authorize someone
You can also ask someone else to vote for you. This is called authorization. All information about authorizing someone can be found on the Power of Attorney page.
