What should you do if your sewer is blocked?

1. My sewer is blocked, what now? If you live in a built-up area, follow these steps. If you live in a rural area, go directly to image 6.

2. Check with your neighbors. Ask your neighbors if they also have a sewer blockage: No, then it is only at your place and there is little chance that it is blocked on municipal land. Yes, then it could be a problem with the municipality's main sewer.

3. Call one of our drain cleaners. The municipality works with: Van Dijk: 0492-552685, Coppelmans: 040-2836043, Rioolservice Budel: 0495-745647. Make an appointment yourself and discuss the costs. If the problem lies with the municipality, we will only pay these contractors.

4. Where is the problem? The contractor is looking for the drain cleaning piece. If water comes out of it, the blockage is on the municipal side and the costs are borne by the municipality.
The contractor will check whether the blockage is on the municipal side or on the residential side.
5. Who pays the costs? Is there no water coming out of the drain cleaning device? Then the blockage is on your side and you will have to pay the costs yourself.

6. Do you live in a rural area? If you suspect a problem with the sewer system (pressure sewer) or if the light on the utility box is on, please call the emergency number: 040-289 38 93. This number is available 24/7.

Please note: a blockage is annoying enough. Unfortunately, there are unreliable companies that charge unexpectedly high costs afterwards. Therefore, contact a reliable company, as mentioned in step 3 above.

If you hire a drain-cleaning company that is not listed by the municipality, as shown in Figure 3, you will always be responsible for the costs

This also applies if it later transpires that the blockage is located on municipal land.
