Culture
This page provides more information on how coronavirus affects the cultural sector.
Cultural organizations closed
Theaters, libraries, cinemas, venues for all genres of music, museums, music schools, presentation institutions and monuments are closed to the public.
What support does the rijksoverheid government give to cultural institutions?
Organizations and self-employed people in the cultural sector can take advantage of the cabinet-wide package for companies and entrepreneurs. There are also specific measures for the cultural sector. This approach should ensure that jobs are preserved, institutions do not fall over and help can be provided in case of acute problems. For more information see rijksoverheid.
What support does the municipality give to cultural institutions?
Rent payments for organizations renting buildings from the municipality will be suspended for the second quarter, and payment of municipal charges may also be suspended. If organizations do encounter liquidity problems, the grant may be advanced earlier. Subsidy payments will be treated leniently if organizations have not been able to meet or perform their performance agreements or activities due to the corona crisis.
How can the cultural sector prepare for easing measures?
Many industry associations establish protocols. The protocols give concrete substance to the RIVM guidelines. These include keeping a distance, hygiene and protection. In addition, the protocols must be clear in communication to all groups. What is expected of employees, and what of visitors? How should the workplace be set up? Visualizations can be helpful here. Protocols should also address enforcement. The industry itself is primarily responsible for this.
Organizations can also prepare their own plan and submit it to the municipality.
