Royal award, ribbon
What is it?
A royal honor is also known as a “ribbon.” This honor is awarded in the name of the King. It is essentially a royal pat on the back for someone who has done something special for Dutch society.
How does it work?
The rain of ribbons takes place annually on the last working day before King's Day. Most royal honors are awarded during this "rain of ribbons.
- If you would like to nominate someone for the 2027 honors, be sure to submit your nomination on time. For the 2027 honors, you must submit your application by July 1, 2026.
- If it is an interim award, make your proposal no later than 6 months before the desired date.
What to do?
