Extract of personal data BRP
What is it?
The Basic Registration of PersonsBRP) contains data of all inhabitants of the Netherlands. Who can view or request this data (extract)?
- Yourself
- Customers (these are other government agencies).
- Third parties (including lawyers, notaries for carrying out their work and not for commercial purposes)
You can see at Rijksoverheid.nl which organizations get data from the BRP and for what.
How does it work?
Viewing your data from the BRP
You can view data at the municipality where you live or online through MijnOverheid.nl.
Requesting an extract from the BRP
You may request an extract from the following persons without authorization:
- your partner, if you are married to him or her or have a registered partnership and live at the same address.
- Your child under the age of 16, if you live at the same address. Or have parental authority.
- Your child age 16 or older, if you live at the same address.
- your parents, if you are 18 or older and live at the same address as your parents.
These options are possible only if that person has no confidentiality.

Requesting an extract of personal data BRP
- Enter your information.
- Pay for the extract online at the time of application.
- You will receive the extract at home within 7 working days.
At the counter
- Make an appointment
- You pay for the extract at the counter and receive it immediately.
Requesting data from someone else
You can request someone else's data from the BRP (name, address and place of residence). You must explain why you need the data. You may not use this data for commercial purposes.
- The person involved must give consent for the data to be shared.
- You can submit a request for information from the BRP by logging in with your DigiD credentials.

- Pay for the extract online at the time of application.
- You will receive the extract at home within 7 working days.
Extract of Non-Residents Registration (RNI)
If you live abroad or are no longer registered with a Dutch municipality, your personal data are in the Non-Residents Registration (RNI).
You can request an extract from this at one of the RNI counter municipalities. If you need an extract for a foreign organization, you can get it in several languages.

Personal request
- valid identity card
- debit card or cash
Authorize someone else
The authorized representative takes your authorization letter to the municipality with:
- A copy of your valid ID;
- his or her own ID.
How long does it take?
- If you apply for the extract in person at the municipality, you will receive it immediately. This also applies if you authorize someone to do so.
- If you request the extract online or in writing, the municipality will send it to you by mail.
