Help for Ukraine

War has been raging in Ukraine since February 2022. As a result, a large flow of refugees has started. Geldrop-Mierlo finds it important to contribute in this social task to provide a safe place for the refugees; we therefore receive Ukrainian refugees.

Shelter locations

We have several municipal shelter locations in Geldrop-Mierlo: the former GGD building at Stationsstraat 33, a small facility on Sporkehout, a group shelter on Geldropseweg, and a number of homes on Bogardeind. The guest house at the Bouwinfra Campus Helmond de Peel, located on Goorsedijk in Mierlo, provides shelter for unaccompanied Ukrainian youth.

All available shelter spaces are virtually full. The Rijksoverheid refugees from Ukraine to find their own housing if possible. This applies to refugees who have been in the Netherlands for some time, as well as to those who have just arrived. This will ensure that there are enough shelter spaces for the most vulnerable.

If the municipality does not have a shelter, it will contact the Regional Coordination Center for Refugee Distribution (RCVS). If no shelter is available in the region either, the RCVS will submit a request to the Ukraine Coordination and Information Hub (KCIO) or the National Center for Refugee Distribution (LCVS).

For more information about arrival, registration, and staying in the Netherlands, please visit the website of the Rijksoverheid.
