Important message for visitorsBeware! Telephone scams, phishing and collectors

Right now, phone calls and e-mails are being made, supposedly on behalf of someone from the municipality. This person is asking about your valuables or indicating that you qualify for relief. The phishing emails are being sent by different email addresses, strange names and with links to request something. This is not us! Also beware of fake collectors. Do not provide information, do not click on links, hang up, call us at (040) 289 38 93 and make a report to the police!

Vulnerability to water and heat

Increasingly, we are facing extreme weather such as heavy rains, heat waves and prolonged drought. As a municipality, we want to be better able to cope with this. To gain insight into which areas in the municipality are most vulnerable to flooding and heat, we conducted a climate stress test.

What is a climate stress test?

In fact, a climate stress test is an inventory of risk spots: this is where the biggest problems are expected to arise during extreme weather.

Possible flooding

The purpose of the water nuisance stress test is to gain insight into where rainwater flows to during extreme precipitation events and what bottlenecks are created when the sewer system and soil can no longer handle it. Possible heat stress

The heat stress test shows the wind chill on a hot day in current and future climate. The Maps show well the effect of shade and greenery on the wind chill. Read more about the heat stress test and its results in our municipality here. 

The sequel

With the climate stress tests in hand, we will engage in a so-called risk or climate dialogue. The ultimate goal is to arrive at a Climate Policy Plan with a corresponding implementation agenda.

Spatial Adaptation Delta Plan

The Delta Plan for Spatial Adaptation (DPRA) contains all the projects and measures that will ensure that the Netherlands is water-robust and climate-resistant by 2050. Conducting a climate stress test is one of those measures.
