Leaf Collectors
What is it?
In autumn, leaves on the street cause inconvenience. The municipality places leaf boxes in which you can collect the leaves. These leaf boxes are emptied regularly. The leaves go with the other GFT waste to the compost plant. The leaf boxes are removed the week before Christmas.
How does it work?

There you will find both the large and small leaf baskets.
Leaf baskets: only for leaf litter!
The leaf baskets are for leaf litter only. Trimmings or other waste should not end up in the leaf baskets, because then the leaf basket cannot be emptied properly. The baskets in our municipality can be emptied in two ways. One way is with a grapple. The other and most frequently used way is with a trilo, which is a kind of vacuum cleaner for leaves. The moment there is anything other than leaves in the baskets, the trilo cannot suck it up and becomes clogged. Hence, really only leaf waste is allowed in the baskets.
Misuse of leaf basket: yellow Map
If trash is still found in the basket that is not leaf litter, the basket will not be emptied that week - regardless of how that other trash got in. We then hang a yellow Map on that leaf basket. Local residents cannot put new leaves in the basket for one week. After a week the basket with the wrong waste is emptied with a grabber. If in the following weeks we again find waste other than leaf litter, a second yellow Map will follow. The leaf basket will then be removed and only reinstalled after several weeks. If waste that does not belong in it is found again, we will remove the leaf basket permanently.
