Tourist tax
What is it?
The East Brabant Tax Cooperation (BSOB) collects a tourist tax from guests who stay overnight in Geldrop-Mierlo. This is because they make use of municipal facilities.
As a business owner, you are required to pay the tourist tax when you provide lodging to guests who are not registered as residents of the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo.
This includes, for example, overnight stays at:
- hotel
- bed and breakfast
- vacation home
- campground
You may pass on the amount of the tourist tax to your guests.
Please note: Are you hosting guests who actually live in Geldrop-Mierlo? If so, you do not have to pay tourist tax for them.
What to do?
If you offer overnight accommodations, you are required to pay a tourist tax.
How does it work?
- Register with the municipality as a provider of lodging.
- You will receive a letter from BSOB with more information.
- You can file your tax return through BSOB's digital tax portal.
- BSOB will send you a tourist tax bill.
- You pay the tax, usually in two installments.
- If you disagree with the tax assessment, you can file an objection.

Objecting
If you disagree with the tax assessment, you can file an objection with BSOB. Be sure to include the following:
- the assessment number, and
- why you disagree with the assessment.
File your objection within 6 weeks of the date shown on the tax assessment notice.
Request an Exemption
In some cases, you can apply for an exemption from the tourist tax.
