We are planning to redesign Patrijslaan, where the roadway will be designed as a bicycle street. A preliminary design has been developed for this. The plan will be available for inspection from Friday, March 7, until Thursday, April 17, and anyone can respond. 

Reason 

The Patrijslaan concerns the access road from the Geldropseweg to Roompotpark 't Wolfsven. Especially in spring and summer this road is frequently used by guests of the park to go out by bike. In addition, this lane is also used daily by cyclists from Luchen and Brandevoort who cycle from Eksterlaan/Spechtlaan towards Geldrop and Eindhoven. A few years ago the Spechtlaan and Eksterlaan between Pheasantlaan and Patrijslaan were converted into a bicycle street. The Geldropseweg between Mierlo and Geldrop also has good bicycle facilities. Patrijslaan is still a missing link in the bicycle network and will therefore have to be adapted. 

Plan

A preliminary design (VO) has since been developed, according to the attached drawing. The main elements of the VO are named below. 

Improve traffic safety slow traffic Partridge Avenue

Patrijslaan is a rural road with a speed limit of 60 km/h. There are no bicycle facilities for bicycle traffic, forcing cyclists to cycle on the carriageway. This leads to unsafe situations. This has been reported in recent years, particularly from 't Wolfsven. Vacation park guests feel unsafe when leaving the park by bicycle. 

The reconstruction of Patrijslaan into a bicycle street will give cyclists primacy and the car becomes secondary. Red asphalt will be applied to emphasize this and in addition the speed limit will be reduced to 30 km/h. This new road layout and reduction in speed should help improve traffic safety for slow traffic. 

Complete bicycle network west side of Mierlo

Patrijslaan is part of the bicycle connection between Geldropseweg and residential area Luchen. Cyclists from Luchen/Brandevoort who want to go in the direction of Geldrop and vice versa can use this bicycle connection. A large part of this bicycle route has been completed. A number of years ago the bike path/bicycle street Spechtlaan and Eksterlaan was constructed and the bike path parallel to Vlinderlaan was realized. This bicycle connection currently stops at the Spechtlaan-Patrijslaan intersection. Patrijslaan is currently an asphalt lane without bicycle facilities. For reasons of traffic safety for (recreational) cyclists and recognizability of this bicycle connection it is important to redesign Patrijslaan as a bicycle street.

Public lighting and greenery

Public lighting will be replaced and adapted to current requirements for durability and brightness. The roadsides will have a standard design with grass. Due to the large amount of trees, shade and leaf fall, another form of berm is not feasible at this location. 

Involvement 

The preliminary design will be available for inspection from Friday, March 7 until Thursday, April 17 in the public hall of the town hall, De Meent 2 in Geldrop. Planning

The execution of the work will be geared to keeping vacation park 't Wolfsven accessible as much as possible. Because Patrijslaan is the only access road to the vacation park, it cannot be used during the high season and other vacations. The time of execution has not yet been determined, but will probably take place in the autumn in consultation with 't Wolfsven.
