Asphalt maintenance Rielsedijk (partial).

We are planning major maintenance on the Rielsedijk, west of the Gijzenrooiseweg. A preliminary design has been developed for this. This plan is available for public inspection until Thursday, November 6.

Reason

The Rielsedijk is a road bordering the countryside and concerns an important bicycle route between Geldrop and Eindhoven. The life span of the asphalt of the roadway has expired. During the planned maintenance work we want to design this part of the Rielsedijk more as a bicycle street. Specifically, this means that the current lane width will remain the same, will be executed in red asphalt and that we will install a speed bump at two locations. This will reduce the speed and make it more in line with the set speed limit of 30 km/hour. After the reconstruction of this part of the Rielsedijk, the road will be ready for the future.

Work

The municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo will replace the asphalt of the existing roadway. The driveways will be renewed and the verge damage will be repaired. A tree survey shows that 6 trees have a limited life expectancy or are diseased. These pose a hazard due to dead branches. These trees will be removed and replaced with 6 new trees.

Planning

We expect to complete the work in the spring of 2026. Of course, the municipality will communicate the final schedule as soon as a contractor is known.
