Residential survey
At the beginning of this year, surveys were distributed to all the caravan sites in our municipality. The purpose of this was to gain more insight into the composition of the caravan sites and to gain insight into the wishes and needs of residents. With this up-to-date information, in consultation with the residents, we will work to optimize the locations.
Needs survey results among inhabitants of Geldrop-Mierlo
Many residents completed the questionnaire. All households at the caravan sites in Mierlo and 60% of the households at the sites in Geldrop participated in the survey. The involvement is great! Below you can read the recommendations. The complete survey and its discussion in the Space Committee on Monday, September 29 can be found below.
Recommendations
Residential caravan dwellers are a cultural minority and must therefore be protected in their housing form. Deliberate policies toward petrifying the housing situation must no longer be allowed and the demand for trailer sites must be respected.
Expansion
There is a need for 19 additional pitches. We need to study how best to realize them.
Waiting List
The waiting list does not seem to be correct. It needs to be cleaned up. There also needs to be better communication about the need to sign up.
Allocation of pitches
Currently, a pitch is allocated to the first on the waiting list. The advice is to adjust the allocation policy and allocate in family groups.
Aging
People are getting older, therefore the demand for (informalHealth is increasing. Reason why family also likes to live close together. Currently, not all locations are suitable for providing Health. This should be taken into account when making new policies.
Sale of pitches
Many residents would like to buy their pitches. The advice to the municipality is to investigate whether this can be made possible.
Communication
Many caravan dwellers do not feel taken seriously by the municipality. In particular, there is too little consultation and too little information is given. It would help if there will be regular consultations with the municipality and representatives of the various caravan sites, at least until all policies have been adopted.
Policy plan
The recommendation is that as a municipality, an integrated policy plan should be drawn up for caravan issues that includes Health, education and employment.
How to move forward?
In the short term, the municipality, together with the guidance group (representatives of all caravan sites and their appointed consultant), will investigate whether and how 19 additional sites can be provided. This will require discussions to take place within the municipality, with the province and with the caravan dwellers.
In addition, work is underway to clean up the waiting list. The municipality also wants to change the allocation policy.
Drafting new policies will take more time. When drafting new policy, the other recommendations will be included. The guidance group will be kept informed during the drafting of this policy. When the policy is adopted we will inform all residents.
