Water main construction work will cause disruptions on Rielsedijk in the coming months
Residents of Rielsedijk should expect significant disruption on the street starting Monday, May 25. Brabant Water will begin replacing the aging water mains between house numbers 26 and 56 on that date. The work is expected to take nine weeks.
The pipes in this section of the street date mostly from the 1930s and are in need of replacement. Contractor GW Leidingtechniek is installing a total of approximately 350 meters of new water mains in the roadside shoulder. Once this work is complete, we will begin the planned asphalt maintenance work later this year.
Street open, reduced parking, and detours
The water main work is having a noticeable impact on residents and road users. The street will remain partially open for an extended period, making it difficult at times to access homes and driveways. Parking spaces on the street will also be temporarily unavailable.
In addition, residents will have to deal with construction traffic, excavators, and noise pollution. Cyclists will be rerouted, and the junction leading to Gijzenrooiseweg will be completely closed off with fencing for part of the construction period. Rielsedijk may also be temporarily accessible only from the Eindhoven side. Trash containers may need to be placed on the other side of the street for a while.
Temporarily without water
During the work, it may be necessary to temporarily shut off the water supply. Brabant Water will notify residents in advance when this will happen. In most cases, technicians will not need to enter the home, but if work on the service connection is required, an appointment will be scheduled in person.
Renovation needed
By replacing the pipes, Brabant Water aims to prevent disruptions and improve the reliability of the drinking water supply. Once the work is complete, the contractor will restore the pavement. The final restoration of driveways and asphalt will take place later during the municipality’s work.
