Renew your travel documents in good time
Starting in 2014, the validity period of travel documents for adults was extended from 5 to 10 years. Between 2024 and 2028, documents with this longer validity period will expire, requiring more people to renew their passports or identity cards.
This may mean that you will experience longer waiting times at our application desks until the summer. We therefore advise you to check your travel documents in good time and make an appointment for renewal well in advance. This will ensure that you have a new travel document in time. That is convenient, for example, if you want to travel.

Renew your driver's license online
Is your driver's license about to expire, or would you like to add a category to your license? In most cases, you can arrange the renewal or extension online. The advantages:
- You only need to go to the town hall to pick it up.
- No waiting times to make an appointment for the application; you can simply walk into a photographer recognized by the RDW.
- The driver's license is usually ready within 2 business days instead of 5 business days.

If you do not want to or cannot renew online, please make an appointment with the municipality. We will be happy to help you at the counter. A first driver's license or a new driver's license after loss can only be obtained by appointment.
