New high-voltage power line between Eindhoven-East and Maarheeze

A new 150-kilovolt underground high-voltage power line will be built between Eindhoven-Oost and Maarheeze. This line is needed to ensure that residents and businesses in the region continue to have a sufficient supply of electricity in the future.

Electricity consumption is growing rapidly. More and more people are driving electric vehicles and charging them at home or at public charging stations. Wind turbines and solar panels are also feeding more power back into the grid. The region’s current high-voltage grid is unable to handle this growth effectively. That is why TenneT is working on expanding the network
.

The new connection will be approximately 22 to 30 kilometers long. The cables will be laid underground at a depth of at least 1.20 meters. There will be three cables that together form a single circuit. Trenches will be dug for the installation, and drilling will be used in some areas.

TenneT is currently exploring various possible routes for the connection. The final location has therefore not yet been determined. Over the past few months, the potential routes have been further evaluated, taking into account the technical challenges and the impact on the surrounding area.

Following these studies, the four potential corridors have been adjusted in some areas. Within each corridor, a strip approximately 140 meters wide has been designated where the connection could be built. Residents and other interested parties can view these alternatives in the project viewer on TenneT’s project page.
