Fire department will check fire hydrants
There are more than 1,500 fire hydrants in Geldrop-Mierlo. These are connected to the Brabant Water pipeline network and provide the fire department with sufficient water for firefighting should the need arise.
Between July 1 and August 31, the fire department inspects the fire hydrants. They check whether the hydrants are working properly and assess their accessibility and signage. In the event of a fire, firefighters on the scene will always know where a fire hydrant is located. Inspections take place during the day, as well as in the evenings and on weekends. This is because the fire department relies on volunteers who conduct the inspections at times that are most convenient for them.
