Announcement Regarding Early Applications for Grid Capacity for Residential Construction

Are you building one or more homes in the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo, or do you plan to do so in the next 10 years? If so, it’s important that the municipality is notified of your project in a timely manner. We can submit residential construction projects to the grid operator for grid capacity assessment earlier in the planning process. We’ll assess whether your project qualifies and submit the application to the grid operator. The rules governing this procedure will be finalized in August and published here at that time.

Submitting a project does not guarantee grid capacity. The grid operator has the final say on the allocation of capacity.

To which projects does this apply?

This procedure is intended for residential construction projects (new construction) to be carried out within 10 years, such as:

• New Construction
• Demolition and New Construction
• Conversion of Existing Buildings into Residential Units
• Expansion of an existing building to include additional residential units

Submit your project! 

The municipality is aware of many housing projects. Nevertheless, we ask that you submit a notification for each housing project. To this end, we will make it possible to submit notifications through this website in August (exact date to be announced). You will find the submission options here starting at that time.

You can do this until September 1, 2026, at the latest! 

Get ready now!

To register, you will need the following information, among other things:

• Project Name
• Project location, provided as a polygon
• Owner of the location
• Type of construction (e.g., new construction, demolition and new construction, conversion, expansion, or subdivision of a dwelling) and price category
• Status:
• Is the plan consistent with the environmental plan? If not, was the plan approved following the submission of a draft application?
• Planned start date for construction and the duration of the project
• Number and type of electrical connections for residential units by phase of the construction process
• Number and type of connections for shared facilities, including the desired flow rate (e.g., a shared system, elevator, or parking facility)
• Number and type of connections for inseparable activities, including the desired throughput capacity (these are functions associated with the housing development, such as retail spaces or public spaces in the same building)
• Heating method (e.g., district heating, individual heat pumps, community heat pumps, or hybrid heat pumps)
• Desired date for final connection by phase

You will also be asked to provide supporting documents, if available. These should serve as evidence that your project can be completed within 10 years. Examples include a letter of intent, a cooperation agreement, an implementation agreement, a purchase agreement, or a preliminary agreement. You will also be asked to provide an environmental permit, an environmental plan, or other supporting documents.

After you register

Using this information, we will assess a project’s position on a priority list in early September. We will then publish the order in which the projects have been ranked in September. The exact schedule will be announced on this site at a later date. This process must be completed by October 1 so that the municipality can then apply to the grid operator for power based on this order.

A spot on this waiting list does not guarantee a connection. This remains dependent on the available capacity on the power grid.
