Demolition of buildings at Bogardeind 99 and 101

For several years now, the municipality has been working to improve traffic safety and the quality of the environment in the Bogardeind neighborhood, between Beukelaar and Laan der Vier Heemskinderen. In this article, we would like to update you on the latest developments regarding the Bogardeind 85-123 project.

Acquisitions

Over the past year, the municipality has purchased several more properties. The municipality now owns 15 of the 22 properties in total. Discussions are still underway with the owners of the remaining properties regarding a possible purchase. This process requires time and careful consideration.

Start of demolition work

An important first step in the project’s implementation will be taken soon. The buildings at Bogardeind 99 and 101 will be demolished (the buildings with the blue tarpaulin). This work will begin on May 4, 2026.

The demolition consists of:

  • Preparation and safe asbestos removal
  • mechanical demolition of the buildings
  • clearing and preparing the site for construction

Traffic and potential disruptions

Because the demolition site is located directly on a public road, traffic may experience temporary disruptions. Machinery and barriers will be set up, which may result in narrowings or brief road closures. The work will be organized in such a way as to minimize disruption to local residents and road users as much as possible.

Temporary use of buildings

The properties already owned by the municipality are currently still occupied. In some cases, agreements have been reached with former owners regarding temporary use. In addition, a number of homes are occupied by Ukrainian refugees. They will be able to remain in these homes at least until the end of 2026.

Planning

At this time, we are unable to provide a definitive timeline for the project’s further development. Progress depends on when all the properties have been purchased. We understand that this uncertainty may be frustrating for those involved. We will, of course, keep you informed as soon as we have more clarity.
