Strabrecht College is taking THE STEP toward becoming a smoke- and vape-free school
Strabrecht College is taking significant steps toward a Smoke-Free Generation. In addition to the schoolyard, which was already designated smoke-free, a "No Vaping" sign has now been added.
In doing so, the school emphasizes that vaping is not an alternative and that its use is not appropriate in a safe and healthy learning environment. In addition, all 7th and 8th grade classes have started the Smokefree Challenge, a proven effective intervention that helps young people avoid starting to smoke or vape. Through this approach, the school aims to help prevent substance use among students
Alderman Sanders: “We know that the vaping and tobacco industries deliberately target young people with their addictive marketing tactics. It’s good that we’re joining forces with Strabrecht College to fight back. Vaping isn’t just a harmless fad—it’s an addictive product. Don’t let yourself be exploited by an industry that profits from your addiction. Health your Health and take the STEP toward a healthier lifestyle.”
DE STAP naar gezonder Geldrop-Mierlo is actively committed to creating a smoke-free and healthy environment. For example, the municipality was one of the first in the province to make bus stops smoke-free, and recently, all public sports and play areas have been marked as vape-free. Together, we are working to create an environment where not smoking and not vaping is the norm.
