Job Opening: Policy Officer for Housing and Public Housing

(32–36 hours per week, pay scale 10)

Housing is one of the greatest social challenges of our time. Pressure on the housing market is high, space is scarce, and the issues are complex. In Geldrop-Mierlo, we are working hard to ensure affordable housing, livable neighborhoods, and a future-proof housing stock.

Would you like to work on specific housing projects and help shape the future of public housing? Can you switch seamlessly between strategy, implementation, and management? Then we’re looking for you.

Your new challenge

As a Housing and Public Housing Policy Officer, you will be part of the Spatial Strategy and Policy team at the Municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo. Together with your immediate colleagues, you will represent the municipality on housing issues, both locally and regionally.

You’ll be working on issues that have a direct impact on society. Your focus will be on housing construction, affordability, quality of life, vulnerable groups, housing mobility, and regional cooperation. In doing so, you’ll look beyond simply “stacking bricks”; you’ll understand how the housing market, spatial development, and social challenges are all interconnected.

You will work closely with executives, housing associations, developers, community partners, and colleagues both within and outside the organization. The housing challenge is a significant one. By 2030, we will build hundreds of new homes and work toward a balanced and future-proof housing stock. You will play a key role in this effort.

What will you do?

As a Policy Officer for Housing and Public Housing:

  • develop and update your housing and public housing policies;
  • advise your board, management, and project teams on housing developments and public housing issues;
  • You will oversee the housing construction project and ensure compliance with local and regional agreements;
  • You establish performance agreements with housing associations and monitor their implementation;
  • You represent the municipality in regional partnerships and consultations;
  • translate social developments into concrete proposals and policy recommendations;
  • link your policies to implementation and keep an eye on the bigger picture;
  • You are able to navigate a political and administrative environment independently and stay on course.
