Skandia multi-purpose building

A multifunctional building is being built in the Skandia neighborhood. The primary school Beneden Beekloop and Dalton Child Center Dommeldal will be housed here. Potje Knor child care will provide child care. And the neighborhood association Hulst-Skandia will also get its own space in the building. The immediate surroundings of the schools will be redesigned.

Temporary housing

In order to build the new multipurpose building, Beneden Beekloop Elementary School moved into the temporary housing, where the neighborhood association also got a temporary place Children's Day Care Potje Knor also placed a temporary unit The demolition of the old building is now in progress and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Temporary construction road

To relieve the neighborhood as much as possible, a temporary construction road has been built for supply and removal of materials and construction equipment. This construction road is located along Beemdstraat and will remain in use until the Dommeldal building is demolished. The contractor will take into account the drop-off and pick-up times of children, so that this also causes as little inconvenience as possible for students and the school. The road is intended exclusively for construction traffic. Parents dropping off children by car can use the temporary parking lot that has been constructed.

New design 

We want to design the public space around the school to be safe, green and sustainable. Accessibility, safety and livability have high priority. Therefore, we will realize sufficient parking facilities and the layout around the building will focus mainly on slow traffic. 

New play facility 

After the multi-purpose building is completed, the Dommeldal building is demolished and the construction road is removed, the actual layout of the public space can begin. In the new situation, this will be next to the intended parking lot. For this we are in discussion with the neighborhood and we ask the neighborhood to help think about the design and layout.
