Apply for energy allowance

Application for energy allowance was possible until April 1, 2024.

Energy surcharge 2023 for lower incomes

Low-income households can continue to receive energy allowance in 2023. With this extra money they can pay part of the energy costs. For 2023, the amount is set at €800.

Who gets the energy allowance automatically?

Low-income households who are known to us and whose income has remained unchanged receive the energy allowance automatically. You do not have to do anything if you receive Social assistance benefit or IOAW benefit from Senzer. You also do not have to do anything if you used scheme welfare activities, school expenses or collective health insurance in 2023. You also do not have to do anything if you received the €500 energy allowance in March 2023. You will receive notice from us at the end of November and the supplement will be paid shortly thereafter.

If your income has changed in the past period, you may not receive the supplement automatically. You then have the option of submitting an application to us starting in December.

When can I apply for the energy allowance?

If you have a low income (up to 120% of welfare), but did not receive the allowance automatically, you can apply for the energy allowance through the website of the Municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo from December 1, 2023. The table below shows how high your income may be. We start from your income in the month prior to the date you submitted your application to us. If your income varies, we look at the average income over the past three months.
