Documents and Community Engagement for the Future of the Akert Neighborhood

A redevelopment project is planned for the northern part of the Akert neighborhood in Geldrop-Mierlo over the coming years. The municipality is collaborating on this project with two parties: Wooninc. and Woonbedrijf. Wooninc. intends to acquire the De Akert residential building from Anna Zorggroep and transform it into age-friendly housing, while Woonbedrijf is developing plans for affordable rental apartments on Appelaar. These parties are joining forces in the redevelopment of Akert, with the goal of creating a future-proof neighborhood centered on pleasant living and mutual support, in line with the Verbonden Wijk program.

Zeewaardig has been engaged to handle participation and communication. This agency is assisting Wooninc., Woonbedrijf, and the municipality in carefully involving residents and other stakeholders in the neighborhood in the planning and implementation process.
