Recruitment of entrepreneurs who want to make Gijzenrooi beautiful and green is progressing well

In November 2025, Geldrop-Mierlo and Brabants Landschap issued a joint request for an entrepreneur (manager/farmer) who wants to work on creating a beautiful and green Gijzenrooi.

There was considerable interest in this, and after the necessary exploratory discussions, a total of nine proposals were received for an attractive development of the area.

Four parties were selected from these nine bids, which submitted a detailed bid and business case at the end of January.

Discussions are currently underway to select the most suitable partner from these four parties, with a view to signing a cooperation agreement this year on the management of the Gijzenrooi area. We are committed to making the right choice in order to give a new impetus to the Gijzenrooi area and its valuable small-scale agricultural cultural landscape. 

In total, there is more than 150 hectares of agricultural and natural land, which will be managed by this entrepreneur. We also want to develop the meeting place with a reception area and space for parking and storage, with which we want to connect the city and the countryside.

The entrepreneur who will soon be starting work in Gijzenrooi must:

  • have a clear vision of nature-inclusive agriculture (see also the Entrepreneur Wanted brochure for all the information);
  • take on the management of the area (both agricultural and nature-related) and therefore have experience with nature-friendly agriculture and nature management and have knowledge of livestock and old field crops;
  • enjoy welcoming visitors as a host or hostess;
  • Of course, you must be able to run a healthy business and want to do so for a longer period of time (at least 10 years).

Important dates

  • Apply for introductory interview no later than Nov. 20, 2025.
  • Introductory interviews Nov. 18, 2025 I 1:30 - 9 p.m.: With many applications and applications still coming in between Nov. 18 and 20, there will be an extra round.
  • After introductory meeting. Submit outline proposal (2-3 A4 sheets): No later than December 1, 2025 to the contacts below (offers submitted after December 1 will not be considered).
  • On this basis, 3-4 candidates will be invited to submit their comprehensive and final proposals.
  • Submit final proposals: No later than Jan. 23, 2026.
  • Announcement of choice: No later than March 21, 2026.
  • Start of management and hosting: from 2026, fully operational no later than the end of 2027.
