Work on traffic control systems on Gijzenrooiseweg in Geldrop
In November and December 2026, the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo will have two traffic signal systems (traffic lights) replaced on Gijzenrooiseweg. The work will take place at the intersections of Gijzenrooiseweg and Rielsedijk, and Gijzenrooiseweg and Laan van Tolkien. The work will be carried out by the contractor Hoefl ake.
Planning work
The work will be carried out in phases to minimize traffic disruptions as much as possible.
- Gijzenrooiseweg–Rielsedijk: Monday, November 9, through Monday, November 23, 2026.
- Gijzenrooiseweg–Laan van Tolkien: Monday, November 23, through Friday, December 11, 2026.
During the work, the existing traffic lights will be removed and replaced with new ones. New cables, poles, and detection loops will also be installed.
Traffic Disruptions and Accessibility
Temporary traffic measures will be in place during the project. The existing traffic lights will be temporarily taken out of service. Where necessary, temporary traffic lights will be installed to safely direct traffic. Road users should expect traffic disruptions and possibly longer travel times. The municipality asks road users to follow the temporary traffic measures and on-site instructions.
Why is this work being done?
By replacing the traffic control systems, the municipality is ensuring that the traffic lights continue to function reliably and that traffic at both intersections can be managed safely and effectively.
