Tamara Mollemans Inaugurated as Children's Mayor of Geldrop-Mierlo
During the council meeting on September 21, Irene Roy handed over the chain of office to Tamara Mollemans. This school year, Tamara will serve as children’s mayor for all the children in Geldrop-Mierlo. Throughout the school year, she will accompany the mayor and aldermen on their official visits. She will also work on a project of her own choosing.
Tamara: “Today is a special day for me. Because starting today, I’m officially the children’s mayor. As children’s mayor, you also have a goal. For me, it’s very simple: I want every child to have a friend and to feel safe at school. But sometimes you’re standing there and don’t know who to play with. That can be difficult and sad. That’s why this year I also want to draw attention to children who feel lonely. This year, I’m working together with all of you to make sure every child feels safe and welcome at school. Of course, I’m also going to listen to other children. Because we kids sometimes know pretty well what’s going on. Do you see someone standing alone? Then go up to them—and who knows, maybe a wonderful friendship will start that way.”
