Building a connected neighborhood together
Woonbedrijf, Wooninc., and Anna Zorggroep are collaborating on the redevelopment of the former De Akert nursing home and properties on Appelaar. This will add new housing to the neighborhood—including a mix of affordable and mid-range rental units, care-appropriate housing options, and, above all, many apartments.
Woonbedrijf, Wooninc., and Anna Care Group are working together with the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo to support residents in maintaining—and, where possible, strengthening—social cohesion in the Akert neighborhood. We are not only building homes but also fostering a sense of community. This is not something we want to impose on the neighborhood; rather, we want to explore it with the neighborhood and then work together to bring it to life. We are assessing what residents need and what else is required to meet those needs. Based on this, Anna Zorggroep, Woonbedrijf, Wooninc., and the municipality are drawing up a joint action plan.
The approach will include the following phases:
- Research; What kind of neighborhood is the Akert. This has already been started.
- Perspective; What kind of neighborhood we want the Akert to be in the future.
- Implementation; How do we work together to ensure that the Akert remains a neighborhood with social cohesion.
