Bus lane on Mierloseweg - extra precautions to avoid noise pollution
Last period the plans for the bus lane on the Mierloseweg were available for inspection and we received reactions from residents. These mainly expressed concern about a possible noise increase due to faster driving of road users because, for the bus lane, the chicane (a curve intended to slow down speed) will be removed from the road.
To reduce noise pollution as much as possible, asphalt will be laid that dampens the noise. At the same time, we will monitor this by measuring the speeds driven prior to the work. With this measurement, we can also make a good comparison after the work is done and take measures if necessary.
Furthermore, the traffic control installation at the Mierloseweg/Dwarsstraat intersection will be modified so that it does not invite motorized traffic to speed up. Finally, in order to reduce the speed and therefore the noise, a signaling sign will also be placed for traffic leaving Geldrop. This sign will indicate if/when a road user is speeding.
Planning
The public comments did not lead to further revision of the plan. We expect construction of the bus lane to begin in the fall of 2025. As soon as the final schedule is known, we will give you more information about it.
