Elementary schools Van der Putt and Vijfblad will use 1 building
During the preparations for the relocation of Van der Putt Elementary School, it became clear that the adjacent school building of Vijfblad Elementary School would also need replacement in the near future. Reason enough to sit down with the school board and both schools to see if cooperation was possible. Because all parties appeared enthusiastic about working together in the same building, this proposal will be discussed in the city council meeting on March 31.
The new school to be built will be located between sports hall de Kievit and elementary school Vijfblad. The current building of elementary school Vijfblad will disappear. Merging the two schools into one building will provide both spatial and content-related added value for the principals of both schools. In addition, it provides spatial advantages in the integration of the new building on the Linze whereby the existing green structure is preserved as much as possible. It is also pleasant for the neighborhood around the school if there is only one building period instead of two shortly after each other.
Plans
Because the traffic pressure for the neighborhood around the school is already high on several streets, the new school will have a different access road in this plan. At the rear of the Vijfblad, there will be a road to the parking lot of the school, which is yet to be constructed. A new intersection will then direct traffic toward the school. The plan is to be able to teach in the new building in the fall of 2028.
