3 | Loesje Advisory Memorandum Regarding the New Construction of the Puur Sang Mierlo Child Care Center Planning for the new construction of the Puur Sang Child Center in Mierlo began in mid-2025. Currently, the Puur Sang Child Center is housed at two locations: on Bisschop van Mierlostraat and on Haver. The starting point for the planning is the creation of a single children’s center on Bisschop van Mierlostraat. In addition to elementary education provided by Eenbes, the new children’s center will also house childcare, preschool, and after-school care provided by Partou Wonderwereld. In December 2025, the municipal executive discussed the possibilities of including, in addition to the current lot on Bisschop van Mierlostraat, the adjacent lot where the youth center ’t Loesje is located in the redevelopment plan. In that context, various spatial and financial scenarios were examined. This exploratory study revealed that demolishing ’t Loesje and constructing a new large hall—either in combination with the new building or at an alternative location—is not feasible at this time. Furthermore, the integration study (Appendix 1) showed that this is ultimately not necessary to proceed with the construction of the new child center. Consequently, it is proposed that this development option not be pursued further and that planning for the new construction of the Puur Sang Child Center continue without the demolition of the ’t Loesje youth center. |
