Starting now, COVID-19 vaccinations for people 70 and older and high-risk groups
GGD Brabant-Zuidoost is offering COVID-19 vaccinations at 20 locations throughout the region.
GGD Brabant-Zuidoost has begun its round of COVID-19 vaccinations. People who are at higher risk of becoming seriously ill can use the vaccine to better protect themselves against severe illness, hospitalization, or death from the coronavirus. This remains important because the virus is still present and could resurge.
Where can I get the COVID-19 vaccine?
In our region, the COVID-19 vaccine is available by appointment at 20 locations. Through October 27, you can schedule a vaccination appointment at ’t Patronaat in Mierlo. Other locations are spread throughout the region, including Eindhoven, Helmond, Deurne, Valkenswaard, Veldhoven, Best, Waalre, Asten, and Gemert. You can find a list of all vaccination sites at ggdbzo.nl/coronapriklocaties
Who is the COVID-19 vaccine for?
- People aged 70 and older
- People aged 50 to 69 who, due to a medical condition, are at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19
- Adults and children at high medical risk, for example due to a severe immune disorder
- Healthcare workers who have direct contact with vulnerable patients.
People aged 70 and older will receive a personal invitation from the RIVM in the coming weeks. You will not receive a letter if you are younger than 70. For healthy people under the age of 70, the COVID-19 vaccine is no longer necessary. They are no longer at higher risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19. For example, hospitalizations due to COVID-19 among healthy people under 70 are now very rare. In some cases, the COVID-19 vaccine may also be available to healthy people under 70, such as if you have a vulnerable family member or if your doctor recommends it.
A significant difference from last year
One key difference from 2025 is that the age for vaccination for people without underlying health conditions has been raised from 60 and older to 70 and older. This is because hospitalizations due to COVID-19 among healthy people under the age of 70 are now very rare.
Not sure if you’re eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine? Take the self-assessment at rivm.nl/coronaprik. This is a particularly useful tool for people aged 50 through 69 to determine whether they can schedule an appointment. You can also consult your primary care physician or treating physician.
