Recreation and tourism policy

Geldrop-Mierlo has many attractions and highlights for our residents, recreationists and tourists to enjoy. Every year some 450,000 tourists spend the night in Geldrop-Mierlo at one of our numerous accommodation providers. It can rightly be said that Geldrop-Mierlo scores well on the recreational and tourism front. One such highlight is Kasteel Geldrop with its beautiful gardens and petting zoo. The Brigidakerk, the Horecaplein, Dierenrijk in Mierlo, the Standardmolen and Spa Sense are also real attractions. But there is so much more to do, think about visiting recreational area the Smelen, the golf course at Gulbergen and the Weaving Museum Geldrop. There is something for everyone, sporty, lazy, outdoors or delicious culinary enjoyment at the restaurants or cafes.

Geldrop-Mierlo is located in the Brainport region and its special nature and moorland is important for the recreation and tourism sector. The municipality lies on the edge of the Strabrechtse heather. The green Middengebied between the two cores of our municipality is also important. It is an ecological connection between Het Rijk van Dommel en Aa with, among others, Gulbergen and the Strabrechtse heather. All this nature is easily accessible through beautiful cycling and walking routes that are well signposted.

Weaving Museum

Geldrop-Mierlo Weaving & Entertaining

Weaving & Entertaining, also known as Interweaving, is the theme focusing on the textile history of our municipality. This textile history is part of our identity, our DNA. Textiles were an important source of income for the inhabitants of both Geldrop and Mierlo. The theme Woven is not only found in our Weaving Museum. It is also visible and tangible in various places in our municipality.

To further propagate the theme Verweven, the municipality has been working with the Stichting Villagemarketing since 2019. The Stichting Villagemarketing Geldrop-Mierlo aims to: increase the recognizability and attractiveness of Geldrop-Mierlo.
