Colorful textile village in greenery!

Geldrop-Mierlo is a beautiful textile village surrounded by the protected Strabrechtse Heide. Fifteen textile factories once stood in and around the center of Geldrop. One of those old factory buildings on De Bleek in Geldrop now houses the fascinating Weaving Museum. Mainly wool was woven there, but linen and even cotton fabrics were also manufactured. Also visit the adventurous Cotton Path between Mierlo and Geldrop over which the home weavers from Mierlo walked to the factory owners in Geldrop. By the way, did you know that more than 1,000 home weavers once worked in Mierlo?
 

The Weaving Museum: fascinating for young and old alike!

The Weaving Museum Geldrop is a unique museum. In a modern and audiovisual way you can experience the rich textile history of Geldrop-Mierlo in the 19th and 20th centuries. Textile Route

Discover our textile history along several columns. From the museum, walk the beautiful textile route along eight textile columns in and around the center of Geldrop. Each column is unique and contains a proverb from the textile industry that applies to the place where the column is located. Strabrechtse Heide: beautiful natural pearl

Wool was an important raw material for the textile industry in Geldrop-Mierlo. For this purpose sheep were kept on the farms, which grazed on the beautiful Strabrechtse Heide. This is a stone's throw from Geldrop-Mierlo. This beautiful area is easily accessible via all kinds of walking and cycling routes.

Empire of Dommel and Aa

The Rijk van Dommel en Aa is the green area between Eindhoven and Helmond. Its location, characteristic landscape and rich nature make this area "The garden of Brainport". A special area for exercise, relaxation and inspiration. Between Landgoed Gulbergen and the nature reserve south of the Eindhoven canal a recreational connection with a new bridge has been built. This connection is an important link between the nature areas Het Groene Woud and the Strabrechtse Heide. The connection is also good for nature and recreation in this area.
