Eindhovenseweg-Hulsterweg Intersection Modified: City Closes Left-Turn Lane with Barriers

Starting Wednesday, June 3, on Eindhovenseweg in Geldrop, we will begin installing barriers to close off the left-turn lane from Eindhoven toward Hulsterweg.

This temporary traffic measure has been implemented due to concerns about traffic safety at this location. In consultation with local residents, the municipality has explored ways to make the crossing safer. A solution was chosen that allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross in two stages. A safe waiting area will be created in the middle of the road, so that people do not have to cross all lanes at once.

Temporary measure

To make this solution possible, the left-turn lane toward Hulsterweg must be removed. This will be achieved using clear, movable barriers. Removing the left-turn lane will change the road layout and encourage traffic coming from Eindhoven to slow down. This will help create a safer environment for pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users. The temporary traffic measure will remain in effect until a permanent change is implemented.

Research on traffic safety

In addition, the municipality is commissioning an independent traffic engineering firm to conduct a further study of traffic safety on Eindhovenseweg. The study will examine whether the current traffic layout meets safety requirements and whether additional measures are needed. The results of this study are expected before the summer vacation of 2026.

Road users are asked to be aware of the changed traffic conditions and to follow the traffic signs on site.
