3 | Policy Memorandum: Replacement of Electrical Street Cabinets There are several street cabinets in the municipality equipped with electrical connections that third parties may use during (weekly) markets and events. Some of these cabinets are now equipped with a “smart” system that allows users to pay only for their own energy consumption. These street cabinets are designed so that the connection to the Enexis grid is inaccessible to third parties, and users can only access the power outlets after logging in with a token and/or code. As a result, the street cabinets are electrically safe and user-friendly. The supplier handles all aspects of energy billing, fault resolution, and ensuring electrical safety on behalf of the municipality. Some street cabinets are due for replacement and are not yet equipped with such a “smart” system. This poses an electrical safety risk to users in the event of misuse, and energy costs are not billed fairly. We intend to replace the street cabinets on Molenplein in Mierlo.
