"My name is Petra Wilms-Nelissen. I have been performing weddings with great pleasure since 2010.

It is important to me that the bride and groom are at the center of the ceremony. After a preliminary conversation, I make a personal speech in which the bride and groom recognize themselves. 

For me, it is an honor to be part of one of the most important days in two people's lives: their wedding day.

A wedding officiant of your own

You can also ask a family member, friend or acquaintance to perform your marriage or registered partnership. There are two options for this:

• The ceremony is performed together by your preferred wedding officiant (ceremonial part/speech) and our wedding officiant (official part/yes. You cannot specify a preference for a wedding officiant in this case). No further application is required and there are no additional costs involved. However, we do ask you to indicate this to us.
• Your desired wedding officiant will take care of the entire ceremony. He or she will be appointed as 1-day BABS for the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo. This person must already be employed by a municipality as an (Extraordinary) Official of the Civil Status.

To be appointed as a 1-day BABS, a number of rules must be met. These rules can be found in the civil status regulations.

The request for the appointment must be made no later than one month before the marriage or registered partnership is to be performed.
