New construction important in Geldrop-Mierlo!
Geldrop-Mierlo is working towards a future-proof living environment in which everyone can find suitable and affordable housing. In the coming weeks, we will highlight one topic each time. Today we zoom in on "new construction" and answer the question: What is the desired development of the housing stock for our municipality?
What do we do about it?
Through 2030, we want to add at least 1,500 more homes in our municipality. Of course, the municipality does not build itself, but it is closely involved in the search for sites, their development and in determining the preconditions for construction in both our cores. It is important that at least 66% of all new construction is (long-term) affordable with 30% social rent. These are rents up to a maximum of € 900.07 per month. We strive for 36% 'middle rental' and 'affordable purchase'; these are rents up to a maximum of €1,184.82 per month or a purchase price of a maximum of €405,000 free on demand.
In addition to agreements on affordability, we also encourage standardization and industrialization in construction. This leads to faster and cheaper housing construction, but also contributes to sustainability and the environment (for example, with less construction waste). A good example of this is WoonST, through which corporations and builders contribute to fast and sustainable social housing construction. In addition, we steer more explicitly on circulation. So we also build homes for smaller households including seniors. This will eventually free up family homes for families and starting households.
In all neighborhoods
We also strive for a more balanced distribution of housing types across the neighborhoods. This contributes to a better mix and also promotes circulation in one's own neighborhood. In this way we build a future-proof residential environment for everyone. Together with residents, housing corporations and other partners we ensure that living in Geldrop-Mierlo now and in the future remains possible for everyone.
