New construction apartments Nieuwendijk Geldrop

Opposite the Brigida church on Nieuwendijk in Geldrop, there will be a 4-story apartment building with a total of 27 apartments, called De Kersenhof.

Six pre-war homes

Currently there are 6 pre-war residential and commercial properties. These were built in the 1920s in the brick structure typical of that time with detailing. Formerly the store of De Gruyter, it housed fashion store Ter Horst van Geel until recently.

Building Plan

The building plan for the new building is ready. The plan meets the additional urban planning and architectural quality requirements prescribed by the municipality. After all, the buildings that are there now represent a certain architectural quality. That quality is also reflected in the planned new building. The building will be between 13 and 15 meters high. The highest point will be on the corner with Stationsstraat. Behind the apartments there will be a half sunken parking deck, accessible from the Nieuwendijk.

A demolition notification has been filed and the environmental permit has now been granted. At best, demolition and construction will begin this year.

Housing for livability

There will be both rental and owner-occupied apartments in the complex. A total of 27. The commercial spaces will disappear. In the opinion of the municipality, the apartments will contribute to the livability in the center of Geldrop.
