Budget 2026-2029 Geldrop-Mierlo - Building residential happiness
The college of B&W Geldrop-Mierlo has presented the multi-year program budget 2026-2029 to the city council. With this budget, the college lays a solid foundation and another beautiful step towards housing happiness for our residents. In these, for municipalities, financially difficult years a balance has been sought between achieving our goals and a healthy financial situation.
Close budget despite challenges
The 2026 budget as well as the 2027 multi-year estimate are balanced. The multi-year estimate 2028 still has a financial deficit. Through extra income from the municipal fund, as well as careful choices in investments, Geldrop-Mierlo can present a stable financial picture with again a positive balance in 2029 after the so-called 'ravine year' in 2028.
Local charges better distributed
Taxes and fees are adjusted with the price indexes so that they maintain their value. Following discussions with the City Council about choices within the levies, a number of adjustments are proposed. For example, for sewerage charges, a new reduced rate for households with water consumption of 0 to 80 m3 is proposed, allowing for a fairer distribution of the burden. In addition, for the waste disposal charges, it is proposed to include a maximum number of waivers for waste associations in the mini scheme, to equalize the rates for high-rise and low-rise buildings and to reduce the costs for green waste collection. This will create a better distribution within the levies.
Investment in amenities and livability
In this budget there is room for several investments that contribute to the future of Geldrop-Mierlo: a connected, lively and green municipality where living happiness and broad prosperity is central. These include the construction of outdoor sports facilities in Mierlo and Geldrop and investments in road safety, bicycle paths and sustainability.
Decision on the budget is on Nov. 10
On September 22, the City Council has already discussed the draft budget. In the appendix to the budget, which is now up for decision, the college has responded to the input per party. After review, this did not lead to any financial or substantive adjustments. On November 3, the City Council will discuss the budget as it is now before it during the general considerations. The City Council will then decide on the 2026-2029 multi-year program budget on November 10, 2025. The budget can be viewed at: https://geldrop-mierlo.begrotingsapp.nl/.
