Flag instruction on King's Day, Remembrance of the Dead and Liberation Day

Saturday, April 26 is King's Day, Sunday, May 4 is Remembrance Day and Monday, May 5 we celebrate the Liberation. Three days when many people put out the flag. If you do so according to the rules, then you "flag" according to protocol, where respect for the National tricolor is paramount.

Saturday, April 26: with orange pennant

On King's Day, Saturday, April 27, the flag will be flying. This is allowed from sunrise to sunset. The flag flies with the red stripe at the top. In addition to the
tricolor, you may use the orange pennant on King's Day. Out of respect, the flag does not touch the ground and, of course, your flag does not cause traffic congestion.

Sunday, May 4: half-mast

On May 4, flags in the Netherlands hang at half-mast as a sign of reverence and respect for the war victims. The National 4 and 5 May Committee calls on all residents
to fly the flag at half-mast all day on May 4 (from sunrise to sunset). The flag used is the Dutch tricolor without pennant

Monday, May 5: Flag up

On May 5, the national flag (without pennant) may be raised from sunrise to sunset. Do you want to leave the flag up at night? Then it is a good practice to light the flag, making the colors clearly visible. The flag may also be combined with the municipal flag, provincial flag or flags of other countries involved in the liberation.
