Agenda for the Interpretive Debate

Friday afternoon, March 20, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at ’t Plein (town hall)

  1. Opening
  2. Adoption of the agenda
  3. Orientation Session for the New City Council

At this meeting, the party leaders, together with the party’s parliamentary group chair or another member of that party (who may be a council member, but also a member of a citizens’ committee or the party’s executive board), will discuss the election results.

The following topics will be discussed during the interpretive debate:

  • An initial reaction to the election results, including a response to the question of whether you are willing to assume administrative responsibility.
  • What are we aiming for as a party: a council agreement, a coalition agreement, or some other option?
  • Which points from your campaign platform should definitely be included in the agreement?
  • Who will appoint the aldermen? The coalition parties, or are other options on the table?
  • Do we want to work with an exploratory negotiator/informateur/formateur who can lead the discussions at least during the exploratory phase (and possibly also during the formation phase)?
  • What should the scout's assignment entail?
  • How will we conduct the discussions? In a public hearing attended by all parties, in a closed-door session with each party separately, or in some combination of the two?
  • How do we involve the board in the discussions?
  • How do we involve residents in the discussions?
  • What role do the mayor, the city clerk, and the municipal administration play in this process?

4. Closing Remarks and Summary by the Chair
