Work on Wersakker nearing completion
Work in the Wersakker neighborhood in Mierlo is almost complete. In recent months we have had a new drainage system installed here. This system helps to better address problems with rain and groundwater. The contractor will finish the last things in the coming weeks.
Since the neighborhood was built in the late 1970s, residents have experienced frequent flooding. This is mainly due to the soil and the location of the houses. We have already done a lot in recent years to reduce this problem. For example, the sewer system has been enlarged and a large storage basement has been built to collect rainwater.
With the new drainage system, another important step has been taken in improving water management in the neighborhood. Residents who want to can connect their own drainage pipe to the new system. For residents who have requested this, a connection has already been realized. This allows them to better regulate the groundwater level on their own property as well.
To lay the new pipes, trenches were made in the road. These are now temporarily sealed with concrete bricks. Only when the ground has subsided sufficiently will the road be permanently repaired. This will probably happen at the end of next year.
