Who is entitled to a green voucher?
Why will I receive this green voucher?

Every resident aged 18+ in the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo who on September 10, 2025 had a general Social assistance benefit and/or in 2025 received an income support scheme such as special assistance or collective health insurance has received a green voucher from the municipality. This does not apply to residents who have already received a green voucher from the municipality with the 2024 white goods scheme.

Per address, 1 green voucher worth €450 is available, even if there are multiple welfare recipients or multiple residents with an income support scheme living at the same address.

Why am I receiving this green voucher?

The municipality wants to help you save energy. Washing machines, dryers, refrigerators and freezers use a lot of energy, especially when they are old and worn out. With this green voucher you can buy a new, more energy efficient, white goods appliance and trade in your old white goods appliance.

You can redeem the green voucher worth €450 at EP Excellent or Van de Weijer white goods specialist in Geldrop or at Mediamarkt Eindhoven Centrum(note: you cannot spend the voucher at Mediamarkt Ekkersrijt!). They can advise you on which products you can and cannot buy with the green voucher. This is also described in the letter you received from us. For example, you are not allowed to buy an airfryer. They must be energy-efficient white goods.

What white goods can I buy with the green voucher?
You may only buy energy-efficient white goods with an energy label. The municipality has determined what is considered energy efficient white goods. You may buy:

EP Excellent, Van de Weijer and Mediamarkt Eindhoven Centrum know exactly which white goods can and cannot be bought with the green voucher. They can advise you about this in the store. 
 

How long can I use the green voucher?
You can use the green voucher until January 25, 2026. There is no op=op. For each resident who has received a green voucher, the €450 green voucher is available until January 25, 2026.

Can I give the green voucher to my neighbor or friend?
The green voucher is for you and your family. You may not give the green voucher to a neighbor or friend. The green voucher contains your personal voucher code and address information. The new white goods appliance may only be delivered to that address.

Why can't I buy an American fridge/airfryer/dryer/tv?
The money for the white goods scheme comes from the national government and is designed to help low-income residents replace their energy-guzzling white goods appliances. These are specific white goods appliances (refrigerator, freezer, washer and dryer) and white goods with a certain energy label (see: what products can I buy with the green voucher?). The aim of the scheme is not only to support low-income residents, but also to save energy.

Why is the green voucher "only" €450. I cannot buy a fridge from that
The municipality does not have enough money to give all low-income households a white goods appliance with the best sustainability label. With a credit of €450 per household, you can buy a washing machine with the highest energy label A, without having to pay extra as a resident. It also allows you to buy several tabletop refrigerators without having to pay extra.
 

Can I buy a more expensive white goods appliance than €450?
Yes, you can. However, the white goods must meet the sustainability requirements (see: which white goods can I buy with a green voucher?). You will have to pay the amount above €450 yourself. There may also be additional costs for delivery, placement and installation.

What is a green voucher?
The green voucher is a kind of credit note showing €450 for your household. You can only hand in this voucher at three white goods suppliers: EP Excellent and Van de Weijer in Geldrop and Mediamarkt Eindhoven Centrum. You must physically come to the store of one of these white goods suppliers to spend the voucher. The voucher is not valid on the internet. With the green voucher you can buy a new energy-efficient refrigerator, washing machine or freezer.

Why don't I just get money?
The municipality and the state want to ensure that everyone can continue to pay their energy bills. Our approach has several components. The first part is giving ordinary money. Before this was the energy allowance. The second part is sustainable savings on energy bills. For example, by replacing energy-guzzling white goods such as an old washing machine or refrigerator with a more durable model. This white goods scheme falls under sustainable saving on the energy bill.

I can't physically come to the store
Are you bad walking or can't come to the store for another reason? Then we advise you to contact the local white goods supplier in Geldrop (EP Excellent or Van de Weijer) instead of Mediamarkt Eindhoven Centrum. The local white goods suppliers in Geldrop will then help you remotely to select a suitable white goods appliance or come to your home for advice.

Buying a white goods appliance remotely at Mediamarkt Eindhoven Centrum is difficult because they can be less flexible in terms of remote payment or home visit. Do you still want to buy a white goods appliance at Mediamarkt Eindhoven Centrum? Then this is only possible if you buy a white goods appliance of 450 euros or less and know exactly which appliance you want. Distance payment is not possible and therefore you cannot buy an appliance above 450 euros. You can then order your appliance at mm.eindhoven.bezorging@mediamarkt.nl. Why do you want to contact me after returning the green voucher?
The municipality wants you to be able to continue paying your energy bills. That is why we offer you a free energy-saving products such as a water-saving shower head, LED lights and radiator foil at your home. You don't have to pay anything for these. To schedule this energy consultation, we will contact you by phone. Our consultation is voluntary and you may indicate on the phone that you do not want an energy consultation at your home.
At this moment we have helped about 700 households in Geldrop-Mierlo with these energy saving products.
