Your challenge

As a disaster response officer, you will play a central role in disaster response and crisis management for three municipalities: Geldrop-Mierlo, Son en Breugel, and Nuenen. You will move smoothly between three different administrative and organizational contexts and know what is needed to take the right steps quickly in complex situations. You:

  • Prepare all three municipal organizations for disasters and crises by translating regional plans from the Safety Region into a local action perspective, taking into account administrative priorities, local risks, and specific organizational agreements for each municipality.
  • Advises mayors, municipal secretaries, and management teams in Geldrop-Mierlo, Son en Breugel, and Nuenen—both in preparation for and during (impending) crises.
  • Acts as the first point of contact in the event of incidents in one of the three municipalities and ensures that the local crisis organization is available 24/7.
  • Organizes and provides training courses, exercises, and training sessions for employees and administrators of all three municipalities.
  • Advises on the P&C cycle, decision-making, and administrative documents for the three committees and councils, and ensures that the documents of the safety region are correctly translated into policy for each organization.
  • Works regionally within the 21 municipalities of the Brabant-Zuidoost Safety Region and actively participates in on-call duties within Civil Protection.

You also have:

  • Minimum higher vocational education (HBO) level of working and thinking
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with crisis management
  • Understanding tasks and responsibilities within Civil Protection, fire department, police, GHOR (Regional Medical Assistance Organization), and regional crisis partners
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
  • Experience working in a political-administrative environment
  • Willingness to be on call and to take the necessary training courses

 Our organizations

You will be part of the Liveability and Safety team of the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo. From there, you will be seconded to the municipalities of Nuenen and Son en Breugel. You will perform the same tasks for all three organizations. You will interact frequently with colleagues within these municipalities and feel at home working for three organizations with different dynamics but a shared ambition: a safe and resilient society.

What can you expect from us

  • A salary of up to €5,554 gross per month (based on 36 hours per week), depending on your education and experience (salary level as of January 1, 2026).
