Reporting nuisance from setting off fireworks
Recently, we have been receiving more and more reports from our residents about nuisances caused by setting off fireworks. In this article, we call attention to reporting fireworks nuisance.
Fireworks rules
The setting off of fireworks is subject to rules. By far the majority of fireworks may only be set off during a very short period: from Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. until Jan. 1 at 2 a.m. An exception is the so-called F1 fireworks (also known as children's fireworks, such as asterisks, fountains and poppers), which can also cause some pretty big bangs. More information on fireworks regulations can be found on the Rijksoverheid website: rijksoverheid.
Fireworks nuisance
Do you hear or see fireworks being set off and are you experiencing a nuisance? Please report this! There are several ways to report this.
- When there are nuisances going on now and there is visibility of the nuisance and nuisance creators:
- during office hours via the Outside Better app or by phone at the municipality: 040 - 289 38 39.
- outside office hours when there is immediate (life) danger or a suspicious situation (e.g. vandalism) where you have sight of the perpetrator(s): to the police via 112.
- If there is a nuisance but it is not clear where the fireworks were set off or it has been longer, it can be reported to the municipality (via the municipal website or the Outside Better app).
Every report counts
We sometimes get the response that reports are not responded to or are responded to too late. Every report is taken seriously. However, it should be noted that it is difficult to respond immediately to reports of fireworks being set off too early. Unfortunately it is not always possible to be on site immediately, to find out exactly where the fireworks come from and to catch the perpetrators in the act. We hope for your understanding.
Reporting nuisance caused by setting off fireworks is particularly important for a good picture of where and when fireworks are set off. By jointly registering reports with the municipality and police, we can carry out more targeted checks. Youth work can also make a good contribution to this. Youth work can contact both local residents and young people. But the district police, the supervisors and the area director also have their contacts for this in the neighborhood and can play a role here.
