Childcare allowance
What is it?
Childcare allowance is a (partial) reimbursement of childcare costs. For example, if your children attend a daycare center, out-of-school care or a guest parent.
You can apply for the supplement if:
- you and your partner work during the day
- you are in training
- you receive benefits
How much allowance you will receive depends on your income level, the number of children and the type of care. At the Belastingdienst you can make a trial calculation to see how much childcare allowance you can get.
How does it work?
You can get the allowance for the following types of child care:
- Day care in a nursery or day care center.
- Extracurricular care of children aged 4 to 12.
- Guest parent care. You can only receive allowance for a guest parent who is registered with a registered guest parent agency.
- Parent participation creches where a group of parents take turns caring for their own children.
- Own nanny. The babysitter is registered as a host parent and you pay the babysitter white. You can arrange this through a host parent agency.
- Toddler care of children aged 2.5 to 4 years.
What to do?
You can apply for the childcare allowance through My Benefits. Log in with your DigiD.
What do I need?
- Proof of your and your partner's income
- Cost statement from the child care organization
- If you are in debt, attach documents that prove it.
How long does it take?
You will be notified within 8 weeks whether you will receive child care subsidies.
Objecting
