"Drum Without Clutter" campaign for healthy choices
Healthy drinking and eating is important to feel good about yourself. To help parents with this, the campaign "Drum without Junk" was created. With the start of the school year, this campaign kicked off. Alderman Mathil Sanders, will give the official starting signal on September 1 at noon and hand over the first booklet to students of Puur Sang location Lucia in Mierlo.
"Most people are increasingly aware of the consequences of unhealthy eating, such as obesity and cardiovascular disease. To prevent diseases later in life, it is good to learn good habits at an early age," Alderman said. "The action 'Drum without Clutter' gives children and parents tips and ideas for this. Because, although fortunately we know better and better what is healthy and less healthy, we can all still use some tips. And what better place to start than the beginning of the school year. A great opportunity to ensure a healthy lunch box at school."
Healthy, easy and not expensive
The lunchbox booklet contains facts, tips and examples about what you can give your child to take to school. The booklet shows that healthy can certainly be easy and doesn't have to cost a lot. Not only lunch is included in the booklet, but there are also tips for a healthy break snack or treat. In addition, attention is also paid to the importance of drinking water. The campaign is an initiative of The Step to Healthier Municipality Geldrop-Mierlo in collaboration with JOGG Brabant zuidoost, GG BZO, JGZ and the Nutrition Center.

Supermarkets and library together take THE STEP to healthier
Several supermarkets and the library in Geldrop-Mierlo support the action, which this year runs from Sept. 1 through Sept. 19.
"Fantastic to see how many schools value health for their children and the parents. I was also surprised by the cooperation with involved organizations and companies," said the enthusiastic Alderman. "We hope more and more parents fill their children's drums with healthy products. A healthy youth in a healthy environment, that's what we as THE STEP to healthier municipality are going for."
