To emphasize the importance of a healthy breakfast, Mayor Jos van Bree and children's mayor Irene Roy received pupils from Kindcentrum de Kersentuin from Mierlo at the town hall of Geldrop-Mierlo on Friday, October 10. For it is a fact that many children do not, not always or not healthy breakfast. And that has an impact on learning performance. Attention to this remains important, so that all children have equal opportunities.
Instructive morning
In addition to the (children's) mayor, Dirk de Vocht of Echte Bakker Godfried de Vocht also joined us. An instructive and pleasant morning, during which they talked with the children about the importance of breakfast. Do they eat breakfast every day, what do the children prefer to eat and why is this meal so important? And the baker also explained where the products come from. Mayor Van Bree: "A healthy breakfast gives children much-needed energy for the rest of the day. With this initiative we take small steps towards a healthy and happy life. This way children can learn and experience what a healthy breakfast is all about!"
Starting the day well
The elementary school children received a breakfast that complies with the Nutrition Center's Disk of Five. The package included whole wheat bread, whole wheat buns and whole wheat currant rolls from Echte Bakker Godfried de Vocht, whole wheat matzoh crackers and healthy toppings such as 100% peanut butter and 20+ cheese spread. Furthermore, the mayor and children could choose from semi-skimmed dairy, soy drink, tea, vegetables and fruit. Healthy and delicious!
