BRP personal data confidentiality request

What is it?

You request confidentiality of your personal data from the municipality where you live. Confidentiality applies to all data from the Basic Registration of PersonsBRP).

The BRP includes your name, address, place of residence, marital status and nationality.

You can request confidentiality only for yourself and for your minor children. If your child is of age, they must request confidentiality themselves. You do not have to tell why you are requesting confidentiality in the request.

What does secrecy BRP mean?

Your information will never be disclosed to individuals or commercial entities without your written consent.

Social institutions such as church, elder care or social work may request your information. Do you not want them to receive your address? Then you can ask the municipality to keep your information confidential.

Not all personal data remains secret

Does an organization (e.g. Bailiff, Notary and government agencies such as the Tax Office, UWV or Social Insurance Bank) need your data to perform a legal task? For example, to collect taxes or pay your pension? Then the municipality must provide your data. Your data will then not remain secret. Even if you have requested this.
