Making statement of support
What is a statement of support?
A declaration of support is a written statement by an eligible voter supporting the participation of a (new) political party or group in the elections.
Support statements are required for parties that:
- participating in elections for the first time,
- did not win a seat in the previous municipal elections, or
- participate with a blank list (with no party designation).

When do statements of support not need to be submitted?
- If a party won one or more seats in the previous municipal elections;
- When a newly registered party, together with one or more other parties, submits a single list of candidates and at least one of those parties was awarded one or more seats in the most recent municipal elections.
Who may make a statement of support?
Declarations of support (model H 4) may only be made by persons who are registered as voters in that constituency. Persons who are listed as candidates may also sign a declaration of support, provided that they are registered as voters in the municipality concerned. It is not permitted to sign more than one declaration of support per person. A declaration of support cannot be withdrawn.
How many statements of support are needed?
For the municipal elections in Geldrop-Mierlo, at least 20 declarations of support are required.
When can a statement of support be made?
Declarations of support can be submitted within fourteen days prior to the nomination of candidates, up to and including the day of nomination itself. For the municipal elections, this means that declarations of support can be submitted from Monday, January 19, 2026, up to and including Monday, February 2, 2026. The Central Electoral Committee of the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo will check all statements. If any statements are incomplete or invalid, they can still be corrected on Wednesday, February 4, and Thursday, February 5, 2026.
