Enforcement Policy
Enforcement is important, but preferably the municipality stays ahead of problems. Together with residents and other departments of the municipality we address and solve problems faster. The enforcement policy plan is also called "Enforce with focus!".
Enforcement means that Buitengewoon Opsporingsambtenarenboa's) and supervisors monitor compliance with laws and regulations and take action when violations occur. They address people about their behavior, issue warnings or fines, and make efforts to ensure a safe and pleasant living environment in the public space.
Municipality conducts inspections in the following areas:
- Housing and livability
- Building and housing supervision
- Fire Safety
- Environment
- Alcohol Law
Boa's
Boas are preventively present is the different areas and work together with municipal partners as well as external partners such as collection service, neighborhood directors, housing corporations, police, SMO, youth, etc. Boas can also be found at neighborhood meetings with these various colleagues to work together in a targeted and customized manner per area. These special investigating officers have been appointed to deal with common annoyances that affect liveability and safety. Municipal supervisors are also charged with monitoring the basic registration of persons.
Fines
You can be fined especially for violations of Criminal Law (lighter offenses), Road Traffic Act, APV and ASV. For example:

Policy
The approach of the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo is characterized by trying to prevent enforcement. Preventing a problem is often better and more effective than solving a problem. This is done, for example, by:
- Premediation: an employee of the municipality enters into conversation with a citizen or company. In this way, we try to get ahead of conflicts and avoid penalties and legal proceedings.
- Working with citizens to identify where the problems are. Sometimes enforcement does not solve anything, but public space must be modified or a situation must be ended.
- Together with the LEV group, the neighborhood mediation project was started. With the help of volunteers, who have been specially trained for this purpose, neighborhood mediation can be requested. With this we try to resolve neighborly quarrels before they escalate.
- Development sites. Instead of being behind the times, the municipality wants to address problem sites at an earlier stage. Whether that means redevelopment, closure, demolition or something else varies by situation.
